Well, it finally happened. The kids were a little disturbed that this is what baby birds look like. I'm just glad this nature study is ongoing and they'll get to see these babies grow and more importantly, leave the nest! (I'm ready to have my peaceful front porch back)Mama's already busy feeding and watching over the needs of her babes.

Yeah! Congrats! Mama bird seems to have bounced right back after delivery. Lucky.
How very precious! This is such a neat experience for you all, especially the kiddos. It's so neat to see the three and then the one little egg waiting to hatch! Love it.
Two things come to mind:
How (and why) in the dang did that bird build a nest on your porch swing. What a weird place to build...
And the babies remind me of the villains in a certain Jim Henson movie still too freaky for children.
Okay, three things...
Was one a dud?
I'm pretty sure the nest on the porch swing cuts down on nest furniture- no need for a rocking chair.
kevin, they built there because our porch swing was perched up high to avoid damage from the elements during winter. we didn't get around to letting it down before they started to build. i think they all survived...
funny, natalie!
